Night Drive session completed successfully

16 05 2010

Hard to know how to describe the night drive except to say it was pretty much the most nightmarish experience imaginable on 4 wheels!

An unlit track, the most challenging circuit in the world and nearly 200 cars, most of which in classes quicker than yours, all going for it!

It was seriously survival mode – all drivers were told to think not about times and concentrate on staying out of trouble and getting the car back.

So far we have al managed that but it’s only 2:30AM here and another 3 hours of darkness…………

It seemed that every difficult section I came to was a signal to be pounced on by a bevy of bright light approaching at huge speed from behind – and they were all having their own battles at the same time! There were times when I simply clung to the rumble strip through corners while they whisked past centimeters form my side.

When my pit chief called on the radio “pit next lap” the relief was immense :).

Next stint will be in the daylight and indications are the day will be dry.

After nearly 12 hours we are leading class N2 with car 243 which is 12 seconds ahead of car 244 (mine) in positions 117 and 118 respectively overall.

Time to try and catch some kip.

must be quite an experience. go greg and ktn.

any news on how the rs4 is doing?

RS4 crashed when taken out by a BMW that didn’t realise that 2 cars had pulled over to let him through! It clipped the RS4 when he retook the line from the first car and didn’t see the RS4 – apparently. Total bummer for the guys – really feel for them, they were going so well.

Your mode of explaining the whole thing in
this paragraph is truly pleasant, every one can effortlessly be aware
of it, Thanks a lot.
